Bible Passage: Revelation 1–3
Memory Verse: Revelation 1:8
Bible Truth
God can help us overcome sin and trouble.

Lesson Introduction:
John wrote three letters and today we are going to study out of the second and third letters!

This week, we are going to learn from Revelation. The book of Revelation says that Jesus is coming again and in the end, God wins. This book is a book of Prophecy. It is the only one in the New Testament. Revelation is the last book of the Bible.

Today’s Scripture tells us about seven messages that John wrote to seven churches in Asia. Our image shows us where the churches were located. Let’s learn more!

Watch Joel’s video, and then continue below!

Discuss these questions together as a family:

What type of obstacles did Joel work to overcome?
What type of obstacles was the early church facing? (Possible Answers: false teachers, persecution, bad attitudes)
Who can help us overcome sin and trouble?

Wow- a strong foundation can really make a difference!  Read 2 John 1:2-3 as a family. What an amazing way to begin a letter! John reminds his fellow believers that they have grace, mercy, peace, truth, and love. All who trust in Jesus enjoy those same gifts from God’s Holy Spirit. What a blessing! John wanted to make sure that people understood who Jesus was and how to live as true followers of Christ. John helped people understand truth and genuine faith. He encouraged people to do good. Read 2 John 1:5-6; 3 John 1:11 together. What does God tell us that we all should do? (Love one another.) How do we love others? What are some of the things we can do for others to show God’s love?(Possible answers: serve others, talk to a sad friend, listen to our parents) God reminds us to follow what is good and true. Sometimes, people share things that are not true. We should always go to the Bible for help. We can also ask a pastor or leader at our church to help explain things to us from the Bible. When we love God, we obey His commands. The Bible tells us how God wants us to live. When we walk in truth, we are living in a way that honors and pleases God. We should walk in truth.
