Married LIFe: discussion questions
Session 1
Slide 1-
Slide 2-
- At one point, Dave rated their relationship at a ten while Ann rated it less
- than a one. Why were they so far apart? What can we learn from the gap in their numbers?
- What made Dave and Ann’s moment in their Honda Accord such a game changer?
- Why do you think most people try to find happiness by staying horizontal rather than going vertical?
- What stood out most to you from the video?
Slide 2-
- Where are you sitting? Does God have a seat on your bike?
- How does the road feel? Is it smooth or bumpy, uphill or downhill, safe or unsafe?
- Is the wind at your back or in your face?
- What “fork in the road” do you see ahead?
- What do you think keeps many husbands and wives from offering Jesus the front seat in life and marriage

VERTICAL MOMENT
What is a Vertical Moment? A simple conversation between spouses that ends with praying together.
Read the following quote together—“You can’t start anywhere else but where you are. So start where you are, not where you think you are or where you wish you were.” — Vertical Marriage
It’s time to reveal. Remember that piece of paper with a number on it? Share your number with your spouse. Talk about it.
There’s no right answer here, so don’t argue about it. Just acknowledge where you are and agree to let God help you improve in the coming weeks. Then go vertical and pray together.
Praying together is new to many couples. Don’t stress over it. God isn’t impressed with many words or long prayers. He does respond to honesty and humility, though. Just ask for help with a sincere heart. He will listen.

- Is one spouse’s score higher than the other?
- Did you both rate your marriage high? Medium? Low?
