Philippians 4:13 shows up on shoes, wristbands, eye black, and motivational posters: “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Many athletes and Christians have treated it like a spiritual performance guarantee—that Christ will help us win, succeed, or achieve whatever we set our minds to. Yet when the Apostle Paul wrote those words, he wasn’t talking about scoring more points or securing a championship; he was talking about learning contentment whether he had plenty or was in need, and about giving to God’s work even when money was tight. In this message, we Think Again about Philippians 4:13 by reading Philippians 4:10–20, and we discover that “I can do all things” means “I can be content in every circumstance because Christ is enough,” especially in the context of generous giving. This passage presents five principles about giving to God’s work, including Christ’s promise to supply every need as we worship him through our finances.
