LEAST OF THESE?
LEAST OF THESE?
MATTHEW 25
PASTOR Scott lothery
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me” is a beloved verse often quoted to encourage compassion, charity, and social justice. Many use it to affirm that any act of kindness toward the needy is automatically counted as service to Jesus, regardless of why it’s done or how it connects to the Gospel. In this message, we Think Again about Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 and explore who “the least of these” actually are and what kind of care he is describing. We discover that this passage is about how the nations respond to Jesus’ disciples and the Gospel message, and how serving Christ’s people in his name is bound up with how we receive him as King. From Matthew 25, we draw four insights into the relationship between mercy, mission, and judgment, helping us serve others in ways that truly honor Jesus

Root of All Evil?
1 timothy 6: 2-10
PASTOR Scott Lothery
august 16, 2026
“The love of money is the root of all evil” is one of the most misquoted lines from Scripture, often shortened, twisted, or turned into a slogan about money itself being bad. In everyday conversations, people blame money for greed, corruption, and broken relationships, instead of seeing how the human heart can idolize wealth and use it to serve self rather than God. In this message, we Think Again about what the Bible actually says about the love of money, and why God cares so deeply about our relationship to our finances. Rooted in the broader Think Again series, this sermon looks at how Jesus reorients our view of money from danger and guilt to worship and generosity, helping us see that the problem is not income but idolatry. The passage reveals three key truths about the love of money and three invitations to live as people who trust Christ more than wealth.
