The Hope of the Cross

Apr 3, 2026    Pastor Scott Lothery

Many of us carry quiet shame, regret, and fear when we think about standing before a holy God, especially when we know how often we’ve failed him. On Good Friday, the Gospel of Mark lifts the eyes of our hearts to the Cross of Jesus Christ. Through it, the Lord changed a scared sinner named Mark into a bold evangelist as Jesus stood between his failure and his future. At the center of this hope is Christ’s cry, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”—the moment when he was forsaken so that sinners who trust him will never be condemned.
