Parenting younger children can feel like a whirlwind of schedules, lessons, and activities. As we seek to help our kids grow in their faith, one of the most important things you can do for your child’s faith is help them connect with others at church. Kids grow spiritually not just by learning about God, but by experiencing relationships where they feel welcomed, safe, and included. When children have opportunities to build friendships with peers, interact with caring adults, and feel like they belong in their church community, they start to see faith as real and alive. Those connections help them feel secure in their faith and give them a sense of belonging. When they have a place to belong, it creates a foundation that will support their spiritual growth for years to come. As parents, you can encourage your kids to step into these spaces and experience the joy of church as a community, not just a place to sit and listen.

Watch.
This month’s Parenting Class reminds us why helping children connect at church is so important. We discuss how relationships with peers and leaders provide the context for kids to experience God’s love firsthand. While teaching Bible stories and values is important, children’s hearts open most when they feel known, welcomed, and part of the community around them. The video will encourage you to see your role in helping your kids step into church environments where they can belong, form friendships, and build early faith connections. Even small opportunities for connection, like attending a small group, participating in a class, or engaging with a caring adult, can have a lasting impact on your child’s spiritual journey.
